DMX Lighting Control Basics

DMX512 sends control values across as many as 512 channels in one universe. A fixture's start address identifies its first channel, while its selected fixture mode determines the size and meaning of its channel footprint.

Build the data path from the console or node through DMX IN and OUT connections, terminate the final fixture or branch, and troubleshoot in order: power, physical data path, universe, address, mode, then console patch.
