Eliminating Feedback

Feedback happens when a microphone picks up its own output from the speakers and amplifies the loop. Ring out the system before the show by slowly bringing up main volume until you find the ringing frequency, then notch it out with EQ. Mic placement and proximity are the first line of defense.
