Tool Lanyards
Also known as
Tool Tethers, Safety Lanyards, Wrist Lanyards, Tool Safety Straps
Used for
Securing tools to your wrist or belt when working at height, preventing a dropped tool from injuring crew below. Any tool used on a truss walk, grid, or elevated work platform should be tethered.
Trade note
On many venues working at height with un-tethered tools is a hard rule violation, not a recommendation. ANSI/ASSE Z359.3 covers positioning lanyards. Shock-absorbing lanyards (with a deceleration device) differ from tool tethers — tool tethers attach small tools to the body; lanyards in the fall-protection sense attach the body to an anchor.
