Polyester (also sold as Dacron) has minimal stretch and good UV resistance — the right choice for outdoor use and anywhere consistent load-bearing is needed. Nylon stretches significantly under load, making it good for shock-absorbing applications but not for fixed rigging. Never use utility rope as a rigging element without knowing its rated WLL.
