Sharpie / Permanent Marker
Also known as
Permanent Marker, Marker, Fine Point Marker, Felt-Tip Marker
Used for
Marking cable ends, labeling gear, writing on gaff tape labels, and leaving circuit and channel notes on distro panels. Permanent markers adhere to almost any surface — plastic cases, cable jackets, gaff tape, and metal hardware.
Trade note
"Sharpie" is a brand name (Sanford/Newell Brands) that became the generic term in North America for fine-point permanent markers, the same way crescent became generic for adjustable wrenches. Carry at least two — they disappear on show site.
