Steel Toe Shoes
Also known as
Safety Boots, Steel Cap Boots, Work Boots, CSA Boots, Composite Toe Shoes
Used for
Protecting feet from dropped cases, truss sections, heavy hardware, and forklift traffic during load-in and load-out. Required PPE on most union shows and many commercial load-ins.
Trade note
ASTM F2413 is the US standard for protective footwear. Composite toe (non-metallic) versions are lighter and won't trigger metal detectors at secure venues — increasingly common on production sets. "CSA" (Canadian Standards Association) marked boots are required on many Canadian productions.
